There was a period when we were getting lots of information about the unannounced Final Fantasy IX Remake but in recent months information has dried up completely. It seems that the reason for this is that development has completely stalled on the classic JRPG remake which was apparently being developed as a single game, rather than like Final Fantasy VII Remake which was split into three meaty parts. The new information comes from Alex Donaldson from RPGSite and according to him the project was very far along internally and then development ceased for whatever reason. The project could be revisited by Square Enix in the future, but at the moment development has been paused. |
