The Switch 2 rumors just keep on coming. In fact, there is a case to be made that they have gotten even more frequent now compared to a month ago. The vast majority of this is due to accessory manufacturers showcasing products they have in store for Nintendo's Switch successor console. The latest example of this, however, might be the bravest so far.
As of this article's writing, CES 2025 is currently taking place in the United States. To be more specific, it's happening at Las Vegas, Nevada. The tech event usually doesn't have much in the way of gaming news for fans, but accessories manufacturer Genki is causing a bit of a stir. Not only are they showing Switch 2 accessories behind closed doors, but they have dummy models of the Joy-Cons and the Switch 2 itself.
German media outlet Netzwelt managed to hold the dummy model in their hands at the event, where they stated that it's not actually on display at their public stand. Instead, it's only being used to demonstrate what Genki's accessories do and what they've been working on to potential customers. Genki told Netzwelt that the dimensions of the dummy model are the exact same as the real Switch 2 and that "even rudimentary functions such as removing the Joy-Con should work just like the upcoming Nintendo console". Genki has multiple Switch 2 products planned, including a dock and controllers.
Netzwelt noted that the dummy model feels "significantly larger in hand". In fact, they compare it to the
Lenovo Legion Go, which they said they tried out in IFA 2023 in Berlin. They also talked about the Joy-Cons, saying that "if you remove the Joy-Con from the dummy, you can remove them to the side and no longer need to push them upwards. However, they do not stick to the dummy magnetically, so the upcoming handheld will probably also have a mechanical lock for the controllers".
The final thing Netzwelt had to share was that "the dummy at CES has an additional button on the right Joy-Con. This is not labeled on the dummy, but it is likely to be the new C-button". Once again, it is worth keeping in mind that none of this is coming from Nintendo themselves. Still, it's getting more and more urgent for Nintendo to actually reveal the console. You can see a small gallery of pictures of the dummy model down below.
