This would enable the Kyoto-based company and third party developers to allow their games to upscale at higher resolutions on the next system. Sony recently unleashed PSSR for the PlayStation 5 Pro console, which is their own internal DLSS-inspired software, which has been a tad hit and miss for some games on the platform. Another thing mentioned in Nintendo's patent is the ability to to reduce video game file sizes to allow them to fit on cartridges, though this would still mean that additional downloads would most likely be a thing.
