"Wow, I can't wait for the new Shawn Levy movie!" is something that no one really ever says. But honestly, they should. The producer and director is behind movies and television shows that are just so dang fun (Night at the Museum, Stranger Things, Date Night, Free Guy, and the upcoming Deadpool 3) it's no wonder he's been tapped to direct an upcoming Star Wars—which one, though, he'll never say. His new project, which premiered this week on Netflix, is a four-part adaptation of Anthony Doerr's Pulitzer Prize–winning World War II novel, All the Light We Cannot See. When Levy sat down with Angela Watercutter for our Big Interview, his work on Deadpool 3 was on pause due to the writer's and actor's strike. They talk about what it's like to enter into the Marvel universe (secretive!) and the Star Wars universe (even more secretive!) and why getting the lead role in Grease at 13 might just be the best pipeline to becoming a Hollywood director. —Michelle Legro | Deputy Editor, Features |
