SEGA president: “SEGA’s music is truly amazing” and few companies can compete

SEGA is one company you can count on to create a great video game soundtrack and in a recent interview with Famitsu, SEGA president Shuji Utsumi, fully acknowledged this. Mr. Utsumi said that “SEGA’s music is truly amazing” and that there are only a “few companies that possess such wonderful music.” He then said “I want to create an environment where people can more easily listen to such music” promoting SEGA’s push on digital music platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify.

I think Sega’s presence is indispensable in the history of game music.

Utsumi: From a business perspective, there are few companies that possess such wonderful music. I used to be the president of Warner Music Japan, and from my experience in the music industry, I think that “Sega’s music is truly amazing.” I want to create an environment where people can more easily listen to such music, for example, on Spotify or Amazon Music. Incidentally,

Atlus is registered as a single artist on music streaming services, but on Spotify, it ranks alongside globally best-selling artists. That just goes to show how popular game music is.

There are many fans of Sega’s music all over the world, so it would be great if we could, for example, create a list of Sega songs to make them easier to listen to. Of course, we are also considering collaborations with other artists and live performances.
