Nintendo has released an overview trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, an enhanced version of the original 2017 Nintendo Switch JRPG. Purchasing the upgrade pack will allow you to experience the game at 4K/60fps in TV mode or 1080p/60fps in handheld mode, and also adds new content, including: outfit designs for Pyra and Mythra, a Merc Assault mode to control up to six Blades directly, and a rare Blade, MOMO, who can swap between light and dark forms. |

SEGA announced quite a while back that it is working on bringing back some of its classic IPs such as Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio and more. In a new interview SEGA president and COO, Shuji Utsumi, said that he can’t wait to see and hear peoples impressions of the finished products. Utsumi: We are currently developing titles such as “[Title of previous title ]” and “[ Title of previous title],” which we have already announced. I can’t give you any details yet, but I’m very much looking forward to them. I would love for longtime fans to give us their honest opinions. At the same time, I would like people who are unfamiliar with the series to see that “Sega makes games like this too.” We will be making sure to retain the essence of the original while adapting it to modern tastes. We are currently developing titles such as Jet Set Radio and Streets of Rage. |

With discourse still growing around Sony’s plans to completely abandon physical media in 2028 Famitsu asked SEGA president and COO, Shuji Utsumi, about his thoughts on physical video game software. Mr. Utsumi told the publication that the company still very much values physical media and are working on their strategy going forward to complement both physical and digital video game software. Sega is also active in the distribution of game software, so I imagine you have a strong focus on physical packaging. |
Utsumi: We were originally a platform provider, and of course, we still value our physical culture. Rather than completely abandoning that, we are currently challenging ourselves to shift towards being able to think about and act on the important aspects of digital in parallel. |

Japanese gaming publication Famitsu has published an extensive interview with SEGA president and COO, Shuji Utsumi. One of the topics touched upon is the all-important Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Mr. Utsumi says that due to the success of the movies certain developments have been made possible and they hope to make full use of those. He wouldn’t elaborate further on this, but it sounds like there’s some special stuff in the pipeline. In the video, producer Jun Furutani provides an overview of the Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC, highlighting its new solo mode, Limit Breaker Journey, along with 33 new playable characters spanning DRAGON BALL, DRAGON BALL Z, DRAGON BALL SUPER, and DRAGON BALL GT. The downloadable content also expands the game with four new Episode Battles, new Extra Battles, and four all-new stages. |
The DLC’s new solo mode, Limit Breaker Journey, lets players take a favorite character and develop them into a fighter suited to their own playstyle. Players will be able to choose destinations across a map, taking on battles and events that strengthen their character with each run. A stamina system adds an element of risk and reward, as movement consumes stamina and lowers a character’s starting health in battle. Opponent strength is represented by “SP,” with tougher enemies granting more EXP, and special events allowing players to meet specific characters, equip stat-boosting Battle Art, and train for additional EXP. As players increase their SP, they earn points to allocate across six parameters, with characters strengthened in Limit Breaker Journey carrying their enhanced stats into Player Matches and Offline Battles. |
Launching alongside the Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC, the free update introduces two new battle mechanics first revealed in the announcement trailer. “Sparking! Boost” consumes a larger amount of Skill Stock to sharply raise attack power while in Sparking! mode for one decisive offensive burst, at the cost of temporarily reduced stats once the effect ends. “Chain Blast” lets players follow up after sending an opponent flying by switching in a reserve ally and continuing the assault with a Blast for massive damage. The free update also adds three new variations of existing stages, in addition to the four all-new stages included in the DLC. |
