With the continued surge in local tourism and part-time residents sticking around full time during the pandemic, businesses in traditionally seasonal destinations like Colonial Beach, Virginia, have witnessed an odd effect: Their operations are no longer seasonal. There is of course, a peak season, but now it’s longer–from spring break through November for some.
To be sure, this is one of those good problems to have--too much business, that is. However, given the ongoing labor crunch amid the Great Resignation, being in a situation of needing to hire workers when workers are scarce is hardly enviable.
