Good morning, When Fawn Weaver set out three years ago to raise money for Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, her Shelbyville, Tennessee-based beverage company, she did something highly abnormal. She turned down everyone who wanted to invest with a board seat as a prerequisite, regardless of how much they were willing to give her. And every time she walked away from the money, the company grew, which gave her the confidence to say no more often. “Often I hear other women repeat the old adage that you can catch more flies with honey,” Weaver says. “Well, I'm not interested in flies, or in the things to which they're often drawn.” Over the years, that attitude has helped her become a stronger, more confident founder and CEO. Check out Weaver’s latest column to learn how setting boundaries could be your power move as an entrepreneur. |
