Good morning, Kara Goldin says she had a major insecurity when she started Hint, a company that makes natural, lightly fruit-flavored bottled water: "I didn't actually have beverage experience," she confessed on Inc.'s What I Know podcast. Some people in the food and beverage industry held that against her and assumed she couldn’t make the leap from another industry. Soon, however, she discovered her lack of experience was her secret advantage--she didn’t view any obstacle as insurmountable. Goldin went on to turn Hint into a nationally distributed brand with a valuation of more than $150 million. Now, she advises other founders, and would-be entrepreneurs, to put themselves in situations in which they are outsiders. Check out Goldin’s story to learn more about how she used her secret advantage to get ahead. |
