Good morning, Semyon Dukach was 11 when he and his family fled the Soviet Union in 1979 with just $100 among them. He would become a professional blackjack player, a founder of technology companies Vert and Fast Engines, and an angel investor to more than 100 businesses. In 2017, Dukach founded the Boston-based venture capital firm, One Way Ventures, which invests in immigrant-founded companies. Russia's invasion of Ukraine prompted Dukach and his wife Natasha, who emigrated from Ukraine on a cultural exchange visa a little over a decade ago, to quickly get involved. They rushed to the Ukraine-Romania border and quickly figured out refugees' biggest need: cash, which they provided, no questions asked. The pair have since launched a website, CashForRefugees.org. Read on to learn how Semyon and Natasha Dukach are ramping up their efforts. |
