Good morning, Vicky Tsai knows about stress. While growing her beauty brand Tatcha, she worked four jobs, traveled 250 days of the year, went nine years without a salary, and used her parents' retirement savings for capital. Then, in 2015 she met a Zen monk named Toryo Ito who taught her about meditation and the mind-body connection, which has become a core tenet of Tatcha's philosophy. When she shared with him that she was struggling to keep up with the pace of change at Tatcha, he told her to think of a tree with her values as the roots, the things that keep her grounded, and to let everything else be like the branches: flexible. Read on to hear how the founder of the blockbuster beauty brand manages to find peace during the most tumultuous times. |
