Today's Nintendo Direct was quite a weird one, but what has made the Direct even weirder is that Nintendo has, unintentionally or not, revealed a couple of more things about the successor to the Nintendo Switch that we didn't know about before. It was discovered earlier today, for example, that the Switch 2 Joy-Con does, indeed, have a C-button that wasn't visible in the console's reveal trailer in January.
If that didn't interest you, then this latest discovery likely will. Nintendo revealed Virtual Game Cards in the Direct, and the new feature has a page dedicated to it on Nintendo's site. At the bottom of the page, Nintendo says that "Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games and Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games can only be loaded on a Nintendo Switch 2 system".
The phrasing, as well is the clear distinction between calling something "Switch 2 exclusive" and "Switch 2 Edition", highly suggests that Nintendo will be doing enhanced Switch 2 versions of games that released on the Switch 1. Not only that, but apparently they will be called "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" games. There has been a lot of speculation about the matter, and even a bit of rumors, but this is the first official confirmation that seems to be pointing to this being a real thing. If so, then it's very likely that we'll learn more about this at the Switch 2 Direct next week.
