Good morning, When you know something isn’t working, you might be hesitant to call your investors. Not Misfit Foods founder Phil Wong. When sales of his company’s cold-pressed juices weren’t hitting their targets, he knew it was time for a big change. So he called Soraya Darabi, a partner at TMV, a venture capital firm that invested in Wong’s company earlier that year. Wong wanted to pivot the company to focus on meat products made partially from vegetables. Ater a two-hour conversation, Darabi was on board, and helped guide Misfit Foods through the transition. When Wong secured his investors, he didn’t just get money, he got smart money. In other words, the cash came with advice, mentorship, and perhaps most crucial, investors willing to help him dig into the “gruesome details.” Check out our story to learn more about how finding the right VC firm led to a host of opportunities, including an appearance on “Shark Tank.” |
