More details have emerged regarding the Final Fantasy IX animated series today and it has been revealed that the project is in production at Eurovisual and is titled Black Mages Legacy. The series will debut with ten episodes, which will have a runtime of 22 minutes each. A release date is still up in the air, but it was reportedly set for a 2028 release target. Rumours have long been circulating of a remake of Final Fantasy IX so it seems likely that it will possibly debut at the time. Here's the description of the animated series:
"Imel, Koln, Luciola, Théa, Fala and Doc, children of the hero Bibi, are the last dark mages of the four continents. Today, they live happily in the city of ALEXANDRIA, guarded by its inhabitants who are rather friendly, although sometimes very curious.
