| Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda has taken a closer look at the costing of the cheaper Japan-only model of the Nintendo Switch 2 and has come to the conclusion that the model could be generating a loss of roughly $160 per unit. The model is a popular choice among Japanese consumers as it retails at a lower price point than the general Nintendo Switch 2 model. Due to the current manufacturing costs exceeding the selling price, Nintendo is seeing a widening "negative margin" which Yasuda says has "profitability deteriorating further with every console sold." He wraps it up by saying that he supports a revision in pricing by Nintendo or the release of custom design models to boost the Nintendo Switch 2's profitability. |
