Monolith Soft has been seeing lots of growth lately. Nintendo owns 100% of the company now, but the company behind the Xenoblade Chronicles games, including the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, now has around 300 people that are working there. One of the new arrivals, however, might make you a little curious.
It has been discovered on Daisuke Honda's LinkedIn page that, as of 5 months ago, he is now working at Monolith Soft as a freelance cutscene director. Previously, he worked as a cutscene artist at Square Enix. Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 16 are just some of the games that he worked on. Recent filings from the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) has revealed that the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console will feature both Wi-Fi 6 and NFC for amiibo support. Sadly the console doesn't appear to feature the newer Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6E nor the faster / shorter-range 6GHz band. The NFC function will be located in the right Joy-Con like the current Nintendo Switch.

Disappointing news has emerged via Activision who have confirmed to Kotaku that the career mode for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 has been scrapped in favour of timed-based challenges. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 is under development by established team Iron Galaxy and is scheduled to be released on the Nintendo Switch and other platforms on 11th July.
"Kotaku was able to confirm with Activision that THPS 3+4 will not include the original career mode seen in the OG version of THPS4 on the PS2. Instead, like in the first three games, each THPS4 level will feature a list of challenges to complete in a 2-minute run.
This isn't how it worked in the original THPS4. That game let players skate around levels freely and find challenges to complete. While many of these challenges did have timers, between those challenges players were free to skate around, explore, and collect money."
