Good morning, When Delta Air Lines announced this week it would tack on a $200 monthly surcharge for employees refusing to get vaccinated against Covid-19, the news sent ripples across far beyond the airline industry. Business owners began to wonder if their own vaccination policies go far enough. While many companies had been mandating vaccines, they weren't necessarily threatening to charge or fire unvaccinated workers. That's starting to change. The move to mandate vaccinations or fire workers who refuse to get the jab may sound harsh, but for Andre Kazimierski it comes down to business survival. He's the CEO of Improovy, a Chicago-based home-improvement company whose employees go into customers’ homes to complete painting projects. That frequent close contact with customers is why he’s requiring employees to be vaccinated, he says. "It is our responsibility to protect [customers] from the virus,” says Kazimierski. None of Kazimierski’s 30 employees have resisted getting the vaccine, but he says he would have been willing to let people go if things had gone differently. That’s one of the risks involved in this approach. Read our story to learn the other potential risks of requiring your employees to be vaccinated, and how to minimize them. |
