Note: Kevin J. Ryan, staff writer at Inc., is stepping in for Cameron while he is away from the computer today. Good morning, Steve Jobs didn’t invent the MP3 player or the cell phone. What he did do was find a way of beautifully combining the two to create the iPhone. Many of today’s greatest innovations are the result of rethinking concepts that already existed. Just look at Starbucks: It took the Italian coffee bar experience and introduced it to Seattle, where nothing close to it existed. That’s because many of the most creative thinkers use the concept of reverse engineering--studying who or what has succeeded before, then working backward to eventually create something new. Check out Inc.’s story to learn how you can use the method of reverse engineering to teach yourself to think like a creative genius. |
