Good morning, Today, we’re taking a look at two new surveys that shed some light on a complicated job market. The first, conducted by job search site FlexJobs, found that nearly half of job seekers--48 percent--are frustrated because they’re not finding the right position. As a result, some seem to be lowering their standards: more than a third have applied for jobs they think they’re overqualified for. The second survey, from Generation, an employment nonprofit, found that Gen Xers are more likely than workers in younger generations to remain unemployed for over a year--even though employers consider them just as good at their jobs as their younger counterparts. The fault for the imbalance may lie with hiring managers, who tend to be younger and to view their peers as more qualified than older workers, the report concludes. Read our stories to learn why there’s a mismatch in expectations between job seekers and employers--and how to tap these talent pools to find your next great hire: |
