Good morning, Biden's Build Back Better agenda was always going to face some cuts, but the programs on the chopping block may surprise you. The now $1.85 trillion plan, which was cut nearly in half, may exclude programs that are beneficial to small businesses, such as employer subsidies for offering paid time leave and efforts to fortify the SBA’s lending programs. Other programs aren’t going away entirely, but will be reduced, such as the expanded child care tax credit, which will get just a one-year extension. The hope is that the cuts will make the package more appealing to some Senate Democrats who have tied their approval to a smaller price tag. Of course Biden’s framework is not solid and lawmakers are actively negotiating. Read on for more about Biden’s Build Back Better plan and its implications for small businesses across the country. |
