Good morning, Covid-19 booster shots are more available than ever--but that doesn't necessarily mean you ought to recommend them to your staff. Boosters are a legal gray area for companies. While individual states such as New York, California, Colorado, and New Mexico have expanded eligibility for boosters, federal agencies still only recommend the booster for higher-risk adults, those over the age of 65, and those who received the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Under President Biden’s vaccine mandate, employers are required to offer paid-time off for employees who want to get a jab, boosters included, until at least December 5. In other words, if you want to mandate vaccine boosters, or encourage employees to get them, tread lightly and consult legal experts before doing so.
