Vaccine requirement for French health workers takes effect, but many remain unvaccinated As of today, around 2.7 million French hospital staffers, ambulance drivers, retirement home workers, private doctors, and other health workers are required to have gotten at least their first dose of vaccine. This deadline has been in place for two months, but tens of thousands are still unvaccinated, including an estimated 12 percent of hospital staff and 6 percent of private practice doctors. Unvaccinated health workers risk suspension without pay, but one of the country's biggest public sector unions has warned that suspending large numbers of people from working could cause a "health catastrophe."
