And in non-pandemic fields, innovation continues apace. A physics professor is well on his way to building an engine that could send people to faraway stars using electricity. A superhuman AI software promises to make chess-playing more creative. Elon Musk has a new plan to implant digital devices in our brains, for better or for worse.
