On September 21st, Pikmin is heading to Trafalgar Square as part of Japan Matsuri – one of the biggest annual celebratory festivals of Japanese culture in London – as Nintendo hosts a Pikmin stall at the event for the first time.
Visitors to the event are encouraged to bring along their smartphone with Pikmin Bloom to take part in a special in-app challenge. Once you physically enter Trafalgar Square a special walking mission will be activated in Pikmin Bloom. Users who complete this walking mission will receive an in-app Gold Seedling for an exclusive Decor Pikmin commemorating Japan Matsuri.
Pikmin Bloom is a fun walking app featuring Pikmin which are mysterious plant-like creatures that live around us. However, they cannot be seen with the naked eye. Pikmin Bloom enables everyone not only to see Pikmin, but also to interact with them in their everyday life.
In addition to the exclusive Decor Pikmin commemorating Japan Matsuri, there will also be a variety of special Decor Pikmin seedlings, including a Mario Hat Pikmin and the elusive Fortune Pikmin normally available only near shrines and temples in Japan, which can be collected in app by walking to predefined areas within Trafalgar Square.
Visitors are encouraged to head to the Pikmin stall that will feature interactive elements such as an AR photobooth, where guests will have the opportunity to capture a photo and video with Pikmin that can be downloaded and saved as a digital souvenir. The Pikmin stall aims to bring joy to all who experience it and contribute to the success of Japan Matsuri. As such, everything at the stall with be completely free of charge, including Pikmin visors and postcards which will be given away to all visitors whilst stocks last.
Anyone can download Pikmin Bloom to their smartphone ahead of Japan Matsuri taking place on September 21st by heading to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. From September 9th to September 30th ahead of the festival taking place users will be able to 'Walk Together with Japan Matsuri' in a Pikmin Bloom Party Walk. Anyone with Pikmin Bloon can participate in the hosted Party Walk by visiting this link via their smartphone: https://pikminbloom.onelink.me/pWSt/p49byucm and then by following the instructions within Pikmin Bloom. From those taking part, 5 lucky participants will be selected on September 16th and September 23rd, to receive a digital gift pack in Pikmin Bloom from the host "Japan Matsuri"– join the walk to see how many steps can be taken together.
