Good morning, Suneera Madhani learned the fundamentals of entrepreneurship from her dad. When she was growing up, he ran one small business after another, from a call center to a fried-chicken chain. So when Madhani was working as a salesperson and her bosses laughed off her idea to simplify payment-processing systems, she asked his advice. “The first person that was like, 'go do this' was my dad," she tells Inc. In 2014, Madhani and her brother Sal launched Fattmerchant (now called Stax), a company that processes direct payments and creates analytics software for midmarket businesses. It’s since raised $200 million in funding and landed on the Inc. 5000 list three times. “Our dad was our most annoying customer, because he utilized the platforms so much and had feedback all the time,” Madhani says “But he was also our biggest cheerleader.” Read our story to learn how Stax’s founders built on their father’s teachings--and how they took his advice to heart when they had to make a major decision. |
