Good morning, Kickstarter is launching one of its most interesting projects yet: a four-day workweek for its employees. Starting in 2022, Kickstarter plans to join a pilot program called 4 Day Week U.S., according to a recent company announcement. The program, launched in part by Kickstarter executive Jon Leland, is a spinoff from Auckland, New Zealand-based nonprofit 4 Day Week Global, which promotes the concept of a shortened work schedule. And while plenty of businesses across the country are experimenting with flexible returns to the office, the Brooklyn, New York-based crowdfunding platform’s move is a major step beyond the American norm. The results of the experiment will be worth watching. Studies have shown that a four-day week improves both productivity and employee morale, while lowering stress levels and helping workers manage their personal lives. Yet losing a revenue-earning day per week--or 52 days per year--can be a daunting prospect for any CEO, particularly when your clients and customers aren’t operating on the same schedule. Read our story to learn how some companies have already started implementing the four-day workweek--and if you’re intrigued by the idea, where you should start. |
