Good morning, Gihan Amarasiriwardena is a self-proclaimed productivity geek--who doesn't believe in multi-tasking. The 32-year-old president and co-founder of Boston-based business apparel company Ministry of Supply says using the same part of your brain to do similar tasks, like reading emails during meetings, makes it hard to get anything done. His solution: Perform multiple tasks that don’t distract from each other, like jogging to work while listening to a Norwegian language lesson. Needless to say, the transition to remote work in March 2020 was deeply unsettling for Amarasiriwardena and the whole Ministry of Supply team. Employees struggled to sync up their work schedules. They overloaded on Zoom meetings. And no one had time to get real work done. Now, more than a year in, the 16-person team has a highly effective workflow. And bonus: it’s helping stave off burnout.
