Good morning, It's a strange, surprising, and potentially uncomfortable story--and it opens up an important conversation around what company cultures should and shouldn't encompass. Ramsey Solutions, a personal finance coaching company owned by evangelical Christian radio host Dave Ramsey, is disputing a former employee's claim that she was fired because she was pregnant. Rather, lawyers for the Franklin, Tennessee-based company stated in a court filing last month that the employee was fired because she had premarital sex (which led to her pregnancy). The company then doubled down, stating that it has fired at least eight other employees, including five men, for having premarital sex. The former employee, Caitlin O'Connor, has filed a federal lawsuit alleging discrimination on the basis of sex. And as the story has gone viral, business owners across the U.S. are asking the question: To what extent should workplaces care about their employees' private lives, particularly in the bedroom?
