Read on blog or Reader My Nintendo News Nintendo: Pokemon Winds & Waves is a “crucial release” for Nintendo Switch 2 By Sickr on November 6, 2026 Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has informed investors that he views the upcoming Pokemon Winds and Waves games as a “crucial release” for Nintendo Switch 2 and will do all the company can to maximise the game sales. Furukawa says since its launch, Pokemon has played a “vital role in the adoption of our dedicated gaming hardware” and he believes that Pokemon Winds and Waves will prove to be no different. “As the business development of the Pokemon franchise is managed by The Pokemon Company – an affiliate accounted for by the equity method – I will refrain from providing specific details. However, Pokemon titles have historically played a vital role in the adoption of our dedicated gaming hardware. Pokemon Pokopia, released this March, has also been a major driver for Nintendo Switch 2 sales. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the original Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green, and The Pokemon Company is generating significant excitement through various initiatives, including the trading card game. We recognize that Pokemon: Winds / Waves – a brand-new title scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 next year – will be a crucial release as the console enters its third year on the market; therefore, we intend to do our utmost to maximize its sales.” Comment Like You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. Read on blog or Reader My Nintendo News SEGA reports 1.97 million Sonic game sales in six months By Sickr on November 6, 2026 The Sonic the Hedgehog brand has had its ups and downs over the years but its overall popularity currently seems to be relatively stable. SEGA reports in its latest financial results that it shifted 990,000 Sonic the Hedgehog games between July and September 2026, bringing the series to 1.97 million units for the first six months of the fiscal year. Sonic recorded 980,000 units between April and June 2026, followed by another 990,000 in the latest quarter. However, sales are 10.9% below those from last year’s financial figures. It is not clear which Sonic games fans have been buying as of late, though Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is certainly sure to be one of them as the Year Two content has now launched.
